The contrast between the luxury yachts and the colorful local fishing boats is the characteristic of the bay of Pollensa.
Even though it is sad to consider that local fishing boats in recent years are the minority. It is also characteristic of the area, the number of small natural beaches as well as the artificial one.
Tourists can have really fun as all offers the usual selection of facilities and water sports. It is also suitable for families with small children due to the warm shallow waters of the bay.

But what you definately shouldn’t miss to visit is the dramatic Sierra de Tramuntana mountain dominate that surrounds and shelters the town. Tourists who are more active, can take part in amazing walks into these hills from where the views are breathtaking .
It is rather important though, before your adventure into the mountains to take a local guide book with you which will inform you with everything you will need to know.
The resort itself doesn’t offer much for family type attractions besides the beach and the activities programs provided at many hotels in the area. It is most suitable for people who only want a quite place to relax and make a break from their really busy lives.
In case though that the prospect of doing absolutely nothing isn't that appealing, there is a water park, carting track and three mini-golf courses, not far away from the Hidropark in nearby Alcudia.
Puerto Pollensa was famous among tourists since the 1920's. This explains the fact that the hotels on the sea front which are built before the boom of the 1960's developments still retain an old fashioned air. It is observed that during the summer months Puerto Pollensa attracts mainly British families looking for something more than the busy tourists resorts.
However, at the end of summer holidays, the resort becomes very popular with middle aged couples who only want to escape from the cold British winters, plus have the possibility of extended holidays.
In the evenings apart from the entertainment based in the hotel, there is a disco called Chivas which first opened it doors 1969.if you are the type who prefer loud music and karaoke bars, then Puerto Pollensa is not for you.
