Alcudia is located in the northeast of Mallorca and it is a fast growing tourist resort mainly preferred by families that want to avoid the fast rhythm of the south.
The main tourist attraction is the Hidropark that is situated in the area along with the beautiful sandy beaches. Hoteur Bellevue complex that is the largest holiday resort in Europe is also located in Alcudia.
Another attraction is the Sunday and Tuesday markets taking place in the old town of Alcudia that is certainly worth a visit. The old city of Alcudia is about two miles away from the coastal resorts.
You can also see the remains of the Romans and their town that used to be called Pollentia just outside the city walls. The Romans have made Alcudia the capital of Mallorca in the past and features of this city can still be found like a small amphitheatre. Enjoy a guided tour through the city in order not to miss some of the highlights.
The beach at Alcudia is 6 miles long with white sand and warm shallow waters. There is a chance of water sports and at the one end Alcudia beach joins up with Playa Muro that is a protected natural reserve of unique beauty. Further north and west are many coves ideal for sunbathing or snorkeling.
Several restaurants and bars are scattered on the beach but as you move south the beach becomes less crowded with no facilities and more natural beauty but the waters tend to be less calm.
Port d’ Alcudia can also become a good starting point for small boat trips round the island. It is a nice little port with many shops and facilities for the tourists and is a nice place for a walk since it is pedestrianized.
Generally Alcudia has a lot to offer from historical sites to clean sandy beach and also a very good location on Mallorca island that can be a very good starting point to explore mallorca.
Alcudia is around 35 minutes from Palma Airport and all but the last 5 miles or so are on a motorway.
