Berlin is the capital city of Germany and is one of the sixteen states of Germany. Located in northeastern Germany, it is the center of the Berlin-Brandenburg Metropolitan Area and the largest city in Germany it has a population of 4.5 million within its metropolitan area and 3.4 million from 190 countries within the city limits. Berlin is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. Around one third of the city's territory is composed of forests, parks, gardens, rivers and lakes.

Berlin is best known for its historical associations as the German capital, for its inter-nationality and tolerance, for its lively nightlife, for its many cafes, clubs and bars, for its street art and for its numerous museums, palaces and other sites of historic interest. Berlin's architecture is quite varied. It is possible to see representatives of many different historic periods in a short time within the city center, from a few surviving medieval buildings near Alexanderplatz, to the ultramodern glass and steel structures in Potsdamer Platz.

Berlin has an amazing number of sights, although it is not as centralized or small as other European cities. The city hosts a vast array of museums and art galleries such as Museumsinsel Literally "Museum Island", Deutsches Historisches Museum, Art Center Berlin Friedrichstraße, Galerie Eigen & Art are only some of Berlin's cultural offerings that can satisfy every taste. Along with Berlin's cultural sites and attractions the city has one of the most diverse and vibrant nightlife scenes in Europe. There are lots of great clubs and dance parlors. There are lot of good places in the center of Berlin (Mitte) but the heart of nightlife is at the eastern side of the city. Berlin has also played host to the "Love Parade" an outdoor rave that attracts millions of people from around the world who dance to rhythmic techno and electronic.
