Nice is, without a doubt, one of the most preferred destinations by tourists for the last two centuries. It is the fifth in size city in France and it attracts crowds all year round.
Visitors will be charmed by the picturesque Old City of Nice (“Vieux Nice”). The streets are narrow and the squares quite small, yet you can find plenty cafes with a relaxing atmosphere, cozy bistros and an interesting selection of shops and boutiques.
If you plan to do some sightseeing, you should definitely visit some of the churches; Cathedrale Sainte Reparate, the Chapelle de la Misericorde and the Eglise du Gesu Saint Jacques Le Majeur to name a few.
Other places worth visiting are the Parc du Chateau with some breathtaking views of the city, the Promenade des Anglais where you can observe the Palais de Mediterranée and its impressive façade, or one of the city’s museums.
If you wish to enjoy the sun and the sea, you will not be disappointed. Although the beaches are not sandy, the water is crystal clear and the temperature is warm. Locals enjoy the sun during almost all year and it is said that you
can start sunbathing even in March.
Nice is located in the heart of the French Riviera and is an excellent choice if you plan to visit other resorts as well. A short trip just outside the town is to Cimiez in order to admire the ruins of the Roman baths that still exist from the era of the Roman Empire.
Cemenelum, a significant city was located there at that time. Additionally, while in the area you can visit the monastery of Notre Dame de Cimiez.
A good time to visit Nice would be during the Carnaval, when the city celebrates for two weeks. The celebrations include parades, fireworks and many dances and the entire town has a magic atmosphere.
