Its name probably derives from the word Techni (which means Art) since the village was renowned for its great master masons that worked the stone of the area in a unique way.

The village has remained traditional; as the visitor will notice from the first glance and its beauty is revealed to you as you make your way to its narrow alleys with the stone-built houses, the courtyards and colorful gardens to the beautiful church of Saints Constantinos and Eleni at the centre of the village.

There is also a local supermarket, coffee shops and a bank at the village square. The village lies between is only a short drive from the lovely Governors Beach.

Governors Beach is approximately 15 km east of Limassol and can only be accessed by car or taxi. There are small sandy spaces, taverns and a camping site but no hotels or apartments.
